Savor moments

Savor moments

This post is part of the Five Minute Friday blog link-up. Where I join up with a community of writers and bloggers of all ages and stages who gather around a single word prompt to free write, unscripted, unedited, for five minutes. This week Kate said {SAVOR}

GO

I’m sure at one time or another, most likely more than not. We can each say that we have, or do savor something.

For me to savor my now adult girls, baby newborn smell into my memory, savoring time with family and friends, savoring a meal, savoring the smell of flowers, the ocean, rain and more. Savoring memories from the past to savoring new moments being made into memories are all favorite savor moments.

I have many savor moments etched into my mind. I bet you do too? While a moment to savor may be different between you and I, but none the less it is something we share.

I savor my alone time with God, reading his Scripture, studying his word, and worshiping him singing out loud to my favorite worship songs.

I savor writing and drawing to him in my bullet journal. And, I savor his gift of some creativity such as my writings and Bible journaling.

But most of all. I savor Jesus. Here are two verses to savor.

” And the LORD smelled a sweet savor; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.”

Gen 8:21 (KJV)

” But thanks be unto God, who always leadeth us in triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest through us the savor of his knowledge in every place.

2 Corinthians 2:14 (ASV)

  1. Though I don’t advise smoking, I’ve found that on the cancer-road, it soothes both pain and anxiety (tobacco, not the funny stuff, which I’ve never touched).

    Can’t do it anymore since the breathing gig has gotten hard, but it was a help, and I really savoured it sometimes.

    Smoke ’em if you got ’em,
    and savour every puff,
    recalling all the days when
    you never had enough.
    Smoke ’em in cupped pair of hands,
    keeping out the gale
    that blows from the cold high lands;
    oh, let the fierce wind rail
    and roar around your sheltered head
    sounding cruel and mean;
    enjoy tobacco-smell instead,
    that taste of nicotine,
    sometimes the best balm to find
    for a sore exhausted mind.

  2. It is amazing to me that “savor” was my one word 2020 and who but God could have known how we all would be slowed down. May I not forget the lessons learned and continue to savor the presence of the One who was with us in it all. Blessings!

  3. Paula, these lines really resonate with me:

    “I savor my alone time with God, reading his Scripture, studying his word, and worshiping him singing out loud to my favorite worship songs.

    I savor writing and drawing to him in my bullet journal. And, I savor his gift of some creativity such as my writings and Bible journaling.”

    Like you, I savor alone time with God so much that wake up early and spend time with him in the scriptures before my kiddos wake up each day. I also bullet journal and at times this serves as a way to savor moments in my life. Additionally I Bible Journal and again, this is a perfect tool to sit and savor moments with God.

    We have a lot in common. I am glad I found you on the FMF link up today!
