Beyond Suffering

Beyond Suffering

This post is part of the Five Minute Friday blog link-up ( Five Minute Friday link-up). Where I join up with a community of writers and bloggers of all ages and stages who gather around a single word prompt to freewrite, unscripted, unedited, for five minutes.

When I read this week’s word prompt from Kate, I immediately knew without thinking about it, what I was going to write about. This week’s word prompt {Beyond}.

Beyond suffering. As someone who has several chronic illnesses along with chronic pain it is easy to perseverate on what I am not, or what I cannot do in this borrowed earthly body.

I have to look beyond suffering, if I stay stuck perseverating on this broken down body I know from my experiences that I will sink into the darkness of depression. And, from my experiences I know that if I stay stuck I will not be able to move forward. While it is so hard here in my “bubble” and took me many years to see that with the love and guidance, the push, the come as I am from God, I can run the good race with him as my pilot and move beyond suffering.

With my God as my pilot, I am: An adopted daughter of the king of the universe, saved, blessed, redeemed, and loved beyond incomprehensible measure. I’m also a woman who serves Christ, and is head over heels in love with him. I am a mother, daughter, friend, server, blogger for his kingdom, disciple, his messenger, compassionate, genuine, humble and differently-abled. And, If I really gave an in depth thought about it , so much more, beyond suffering.

Dear Heavenly Father,
I come before you today.
to humbly ask for your
favor to come upon anyone
who is suffering. Whatever
their suffering may be. I pray
that you cover them with the
precious blood of your lamb. I
pray for peace, and comfort,
and for them to know you love
them and can help them through
this time.
In Jesus name,

  1. So much wisdom in your words. God has a purpose for us and will help us. I’m glad you visited my blog. Blessings!

  2. ‘With the love and guidance, the push, the come as I am from God, I can run the good race with him as my pilot and move beyond suffering’ – This. And amen to your prayers. Praying for you also Paula.

  3. Praying for you, Paula,

I can’t push my mind ‘beyond’; there is only the War.

    Most know me but don’t like me;
    I’m wound up pretty tight,
but that is how it has to be
to keep me in the fight.
    Cancer is a ruthless foe,
    and something of a curse,
and through it all I’ve come to know
I have to be far worse,
and hold no kindness nor regard
    to those who’d coddle weakness,
and if I’m hoist on my petard,
    I will accept that bleakness,
    and I guess if pride’s a sin,
I’ll take it if it helps me win.

  4. Yes, so many of us need to learn to move beyond suffering – whether physical or any other kind.

And, thank you for a new word today: perseverate. =)
